Nigeria law teachers has concluded plans to hold it’s annual conference in Umuahia to discuss problems, prospects and way forward for real national integration under law in the country.
Under the aegis of Nigeria Association of Law Teachers, NALT, the group says, this will be it’s 54th annual conference and will be hosted by Abia State University Faculty of Law, Umuahia campus.
According to the Dean, Faculty of Law, Abia State University, Uturu Prof. Ezenwa Ngwakwe, the conference with the theme “Law And National Integration”, there will be paper presentations which will help look at Nigeria integration and other things that that seems to disunite the country.
“All Law Faculties in Nigeria will converge in Umuahia, brainstorm and present a paper and look at these problems and at the end of the day, come up with solutions that will help the government and other stakeholders in the Nigerian federation and make the judiciary of Nigeria proper and you work well”, he said.
NALT, which was formed in 1962 by Hon. Justice Teslim Elias and whose membership transcends faculties of Law has agencies of the government or purely dedicated to law like the Nigeria Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Nigeria Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies and Nigeria Law Reform Commission.
According to him, “It is expected that papers presented will help look at the problem of Nigeria integration, structuring and restructuring, federalism and things that actually wielded us together and forced that are trying to disunite us, especially as they are affected by the Laws”.
It is expected that the National President of Nigeria Bar Association NBA Yakubu Maikyau will present the keynote address, while great legal luminaries like Ernest Ojukwu and Mike Ozekhome will deliver papers. Gov. Alex Otti will declare the event open.
