Former Deputy Governors under the All Progressives Congress, APC have approached the party’s National Chairman, Alh. Abdullahi Ganduje demanding to be included as members of the party’s National Executive Council, NEC.
Under the auspices of Forum of Former Deputy Governors, they made the demand at a meeting with the National Chairman of the party, Alh. Abdullahi Ganduje while on a solidarity visit to the party secretariat in Abuja.
Led by the Chairman of the forum, and former deputy governor of Abia State, Comrade Chris Akomas, the group informed that former deputy governors have the experience and expertise needed by the party’s highest decision marking organ, NEC.
Comrade Akomas, who is also the Federal Commissioner representing Abia at Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission Abuja, said the forum is organised in such a way and manner that they recognise that they are politicians, to make sure that they remain focussed on the unity, progress and stability of the country, and above all, for the general good of Nigerians.
They thanked President Ahmed Tinubu for finding some of them worthy to be given federal appointments in his administration, stating that with over 60 registered members, the forum is made up of serious minded people who worked tirelessly for the party and therefore deserve adequate recognition.
Responding, the party’s National Chairman, Alh. Abdullahi Ganduje assured them that as a political party, the APC leadership is interested on what happens in governance and the political party as an institution, stating that the position and importance of the deputy governor, although most controversial in the country’s politics, cannot be over emphasized
He attributed most problems between governors and their deputies as mainly coming from sycophants within the corridors of power, while describing the situation as unfortunate.
Ganduje promised to look into their prayers along with the party leadership since all hands are needed on deck to, not just move the party, but also the nation, forward.
