Reports have it that a Second Republic politician, Senator Francis Arthur Nzeribe is dead at the age of 83 years old.
An official statement is being awaited from the family.
The Second Republic senator, Chief Francis Arthur Nzeribe was a household one in Nigeria, mostly in the South-east. It was when he was a strongman of the Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NPP).
As a governorship aspirant then who contested against late Sam Mbakwe, he was very influential as a result of his flamboyant style of politicking as he used to campaign with his helicopter from where he was throwing 50 kobo notes across the old Imo State landscape and people would scramble for the cash.

An APC presidential hopeful, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa described Nzeribe’s death as the “passage of a collossus”.
Ohuabunwa said he was a unique human being known for his political philosophy and stood by what he believes in.
According to the immediate past chairman of A be in APC, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, Oguta peopleans the entire Orlu senatorial zone have lost a collossus, stating that Nzeribe’s death “is a lesson to all that all of us, no matter what we are, will one day pay our last respect to the Almighty”.
