In view of the prevailing struggle for party structure in the state, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Abia State has appealed to Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu to intervene in the crisis rocking the three factions of the party in the state.

The party crisis which deepened during last year’s ward congresses has continued to gather momentum with allegations and counter allegations from the opposing sides.

This appealed came from Sir Emenike Nwangborogwu Jnr, while addressing newsmen in Umuahia yesterday evening, urging Kalu to use his good office as the Leader of the party in the state to bring the crisis to a peaceful end.

“The reason for this appeal is to stop the crisis from degenerating, because it involves the political future of party members.

“Many people are already taking advantage of the situation to perpetuate their selfish aims by fuelling the crisis.

“I’m not after who is right or wrong, what is more important is that the situation is resolved speedily.

“I am therefore, appealing to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who is the Chief Whip of the Senate to look into the matter with a view to bringing those involved to a roundtable.

“There is no situation that cannot be resolved through dialogue. The faction led by Nyerere Anyim and Prince Paul Ikonne , the faction led by Dr Ikechi Emenike and the faction led by Dr Uche Ogah, must unite now and allow peace to reign.

“We once had a peaceful Abia APC with a solid caucus. It is sad how Ikechi Emenike came and became a problem. Instead of joining others to build the party, he chased people away including governoship aspirants and chieftains.

“A lot of big weights have left us because of Emenike’s attitude. I heard he is doing everything possible to push Senator Nkechi Nwaogu out of the party even though she said she is still in the party, but obviously she’s staying away from the activities of the party.

“During the primaries, he stopped Nkechi Nwaogu from getting the ticket for Abia central senatorial district . How does Ikechi want to be Governor when he can’t even recognize people with electoral value ?.

“Ikechi cannot win his polling unit and the few people he is working with won’t be able to convince their own family members to vote for Ikechi talk more of polling unit .

“It is never too late for peace. Senator Kalu should act fast by uniting all the factions. I don’t want to enumerate the bad treatments Emenike has meted on us the Ngwa people, I just want us to return to the old period where we all hold quality meetings together with a united agenda.

“Emenike does not have any single respect for Ngwa people and it’s not good for a man that wants to run for election. If something is not done to unite people, I see a serious danger where a few elective positions will be won by the APC.” he said.
