The former Governor of Abia State and Chairman, Senate Committee on Privatization, Orji Uzor Kalu says, the former Governor of Yobe State, Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim will be remembered for his good deeds.
Kalu stated this while commiserating with the government and people of Yobe state on the death of the politician.
Expressing his sadness over the passing of the Yobe State politician, Sen. Kalu, while acknowledging the contributions of the late politician to nation building in various capacities, noted that the late former Governor was a “consummate politician and compassionate leader” and urged the family of the deceased to sustain his worthy legacy.
“I mourn the passing of the former Governor of Yobe state, Senator Buka Abba Ibrahim. He was a compassionate and selfless leader and he played remarkable roles in the development of Yobe state. He will be sorely missed and our prayers and thoughts are with the Abba Ibrahim family at this time”.
Kalu prayed to Allah to “forgive the shortcomings of Abba Ibrahim and make Al- Jannah Firdaus his final abode”.
Bukar Abba Ibrahim was the governor of Yobe State from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007 and also served as governor of the state from January 1992 to November 1993 as a member of the All Nigeria People’s Party. He was the Senator representing Yobe East from 2007-2019 and schooled at Ahmadu Bello University.
Born on October 1950, he died on Sunday, 4th February 2024, age 73 years He died in Saudi Arabia after a protracted illness, and has three wives.
During his first term, on August 5, 1993, he split the state’s four emirates into 13. The military regime of Sani Abacha reversed the change. In his second term after the return to democracy, on January 6, 2000, he re-implemented the new emirates, adding Ngazargamu, Gujba, Nguru, Tikau, Pataskum, Yusufari, Gudi, Fune and Jajere.
