The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Abia State, has expressed its excitement as the Supreme Court Wednesday in Abuja, re-affirmed Prof. Greg Ibe as the authentic governorship candidate of the party.

Reacting to this development, the chairman of the party in the state, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere thanked God for the victory, and urged Abians to ensure that by Saturday, “all that want good governance, and governance with the fear of God, should vote for Prof. Ibe and other APGA candidates”.

He said that there is no other person contesting for governorship in Abia “that is as prepared as Prof. Ibe and who has the level of passion Prof. Ibe has for the state.

“He is more qualified and if he wins, Abians will smile and enjoy, workers will rejoice and issues of pensioners, teachers and othes owed will be something of the past”.

Also reacting, Prof Gregory Ibe attributed his victory to the Grace of the Almighty God and commended the Supreme Court for restoring the confidence of the masses in the judiciary.

Prof Ibe, while dedicating the victory to the people of Abia, applauded the courage, neutrality and impartiality of the supreme court jurists, which according to him inspired the delivery of a historic landmark judgement.

According to him, “It is with a heart full of gratitude to God that we receive the good news of the reaffirmation of my candidacy today by the supreme court.

“While dedicating the victory to my good people of Abia state, I want to appreciate the apex court for restoring the confidence of the masses in the judiciary”.

According to him, “When I recount the legal journey we travelled in defence of the mandate the people freely gave us on 29 May 2022, I cannot but acknowledge that the supreme court in delivering this historic landmark judgement has exhibited courage, neutrality and impartiality”.

He commended the people of Abia for their support, encouragement and prayers, especially during the tortuous legal process that saw him contending with three other contenders in the high court, appeal.court and supreme court.

He encouraged them to sustain their support by turning out en masse to vote for him and other APGA candidates during the 11 March governorship and house of assembly election, asserting that the final victory will be after the successful outcome of balloting.

Prof. Ibe has been through series of litigations by those he defeated at the party primaries last year.

The other three governorship aspirants who lost at the primary: Sir Chikwe Udensi, Gen. Ijioma Nwokoro Ijioma, and Etigwe Uwa, SAN, had gone to court to challenge Ibe’s victory.

Jubilations have since erupted among his supporters, associates and party faithful who were caught celebrating the victory.
