The Nigeria Police Zone 9 is working round the clock to ensure that security is maintained in the zone and therefore, will not tolerate any criminal activities in the zone.
The Assitant Inspector General of Police, AIG in charge of Zone 9, Umuahia, Kanayo Uzuegbu handed down this assurance on Tuesday in his office when a delegation of the Correspondents Chapel of Abia Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ led by its chairman, Comrade Steve Oko paid him a courtesy call.
According to him. “this is the apex Police organization in this zone. It is the one that is supervising all Commissioners of Police, CPs here. We are determined to make the zone peaceful for the people. We will not tolerate criminal activities in the zone”.
AIG Uzuegbu, who is the 24th AIG in the zone, assured that he will work with the press in their activities, stating, ” we will work towards assisting the press with dispatch. The police need the press as they are of great help to the command”.
Earlier in his speech. the chairman, Correspondents Chapel of Abia Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Steve Oko felicitated the AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu over his promotion to head the zone and urged him to partner the press in the state in making Abia, and the entire zone safe.
Oko urged him to be open to the press at all times to enable the press sensitize the public on the good activities of the command, which he described as “commendable” under the present leadership of the zone.
Oko regretted the way the leadership of the country is treating security agencies in the country in terms of funding and used the opportunity to call on the leadership of the country to equip security agencies in the country with the financial capabilities, enhanced remuneration, modern technology and equipment, among others to enable them ensure that Nigerians sleep with their two eyes closed
