Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti Thursday, paid the bills of indigent patients trapped at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC Umuahia and empowered 50 indigent market women at Orie Ugba market, in Umuahia North LGA, 50 at Obikabia market, Okpuala Ngwa and 50 at Ahia Court, Ahiaba Ubi/Amapu Ngwa Modern Daily Market in Isialangwa North.
Speaking at the FMC Umuahia, Mrs. Otti said she came on the special occasion of World Charity Day “to show compassion to indigent patients at the hospital”, stating that the state governor, Alex Otti cares alot about the welfare of Abia citizens and is working assiduously to advance the health of Abians and ensure the health of all.
“I am here to clear the bills of indigent patients and this gesture is a continuous process and us not a one-off thing”, she said.
Responding, the Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, FMC Prof. Onyebuchi Azubuike, who was represented by the Deputy Chairman, Chief Medical Advisory Council, CMAC Dr. Uchenna Adizua thanked Mrs. OttI over the gesture.
The Abia first lady, also used the occasion to empower 50 indigent market women each at Orie Ugba market, in Umuahia North LGA, Obikabia market, Okpuala Ngwa and Ahia Court, Ahiaba Ubi/Amapu Ngwa Modern Daily Market in Isialangwa North.
Addressing the women at the different markets, Mrs. Otti said “I am meeting you on a day like this to ensure that democracy dividend reaches you, and to make you feel loved. I am here to assist you women who are facing the hardship in the country”, advising them to tap into governor Otti’s empowerment process by forming themselves into cooperative societies.
At Ahia Court, Ahiaba Ubi/Amapu Ngwa Modern Daily Market in Isialangwa North, the Counsellor representing Isialangwa ward 5, Princess Camellia Arungwa and a trader, Madam Rose Jonah expressed their excitement over Mrs. Otti’s gesture and prayed for her.
