A third-time Ikwuano/Umuahia House of Representatives aspirant, Dr. John Kwubiri Nwadinobi has advised constituents to carefully choose an experienced servant leader that has their interest at heart.
Nwadinobi handed down this advice when a high-level, powerful discreet constituents approached him in his Amaogwugwu country home and offered him an advice not to be intimidated by multitude of emerging aspirants that have sprang up to challenge his aspiration to represent the constituency.
The delegation that was made up of party, social and traditional stakeholders had in the press-bared consultation informed Nwadinobi that having lost in the last Peoples Democratic Party, PDP primaries to someone else was a mistake that must not repeat itself come 2023, stating that the three local government areas in the constituencies “highly regretted that” and now the time to compensate him for his diligence and consistency in trying to bring the aspirations of the constituents to reality.
They advised him not to be afraid of “others emerging from home” as spoilers like in the last primaries, assuring that all has been put in place to ensure he succeeds this time.
Visibly surprised Nwadinobi said he was surprised to see the delegation and much more surprised to hear their thoughts and plans on his aspiration, stating “We have to field and support one candidate morally, physically and financially. This is not a personal business, but a business of uplifting the community/constituency where we serve.
“I am very much in the race campaigning for the Federal House of Representatives, Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency because, I have been in this race since 2010 and I was an aspirant in 2013 and I did not go beyond the primaries.
“I was an aspirant in 2018 and did not go beyond the primaries. Right now, I am in the race again for good. I want to make it clear that I am not contesting with anybody. I started this thing before any other person that is contesting now. So, the situation is that people are contesting with me and not me contesting with them because I am in the race before them.
“Secondly, I want to state that I still have some good ideas that I want to implement. I have some bills I need to propose, even though during my last campaign, people heard about the bills that I wanted to propose and in the past ten years, they have been borrowing my idea.
“They borrowed my idea where I was hampering on the decentralization of the police, they borrowed my idea where I was talking about re-districting of Nigeria, they borrowed my idea where I was talking about industrialization of every state by each state owning its own refinery, they borrowed my idea on issues concerning the youths where I said any empowerment of the youths without re-orientation of their thought process will be equivalent to giving a pig a very good shower in a Jacuzzi.
“I was one of the first to buy forms, filled and submitted them. I was one of the first to receive the new PDP membership card, one of the first to be cleared and every requirement has been met for victory.
“Based on what we have been experiencing for the past the past ten years, the constituency should have learnt that we have to work together.
“Whoever that does not have good ideas and good intentions to serve the constituency, to indulge in poverty alleviation, attract industries, should better look for a better business to do.
“Our people are tired of serving their leaders, and leaders should learn to be servant of the people.
“My advice to my constituency is that they should shine their eyes and elect the best and trustworthy candidate because, all that glitters is not gold.
“Some are drawing the curtain over the eyes of people to snatch this Federal House of Representatives and again change like a chameleon and bring out their true self and begin to oppress the people. We are tired of people with negative minds and we are tired of people who don’t have anything to offer, offering themselves for election.
We have to get it right.
